Analysis of the level of knowledge and hygienic sanitary control of enteral diet manipulators of the “Melhor em Casa” Program of Jaguariúna – SP.

Abstract

The feeding through the tube, via an alternative to feeding, aims to provide a complete nutritional supply for patients who are unable to feed through the mouth, it is indicated when patients have malnutrition, when an oral food is found below 60% of the recommended nutritionals or due to some clinical condition in which it isn’t possible to make feeding impossible. The handling and administration of the enteral diet must follow the hygienic-sanitary conditions applied, as there is a risk of contamination by large pathogenic microorganisms, or that aggravates the patient's health condition. The work aims to evaluate or administer the administration, handling and hygiene of the enteral diets that are administered to patients enrolled in the “Best at Home Program”. This is a crosssectional, qualitative and quantitative research carried out in 15 residences in the municipality of Jaguariúna. It was found that a large part of the activities is performed correctly, but still insufficient, it was observed that 73.33% of the interviewees do not follow one of the main requirements for handling, which is cleaning hands before handling the diet, in addition 60 % have a good knowledge of hygiene, enteral diet and preparation, but there is an interest in adding more knowledge. Conclude that they are necessary to adopt measures related to the manipulation and hygiene of body diets. Among the actions defined by the team, or the frequent training of suspended caregivers.
