The adaptation and construction of psychological tools include important procedures and steps ranging from theory-based translation or elaboration of the construct to validation and standardization studies. One of the most investigated constructs in the field of Psychological Assessment focuses on developing tools for evaluating cognitive skills. Exploring those different skills has always aroused the interest of researchers and scholars of that field due to man's need to identify and categorize the individual differences in processing information. Thus, this study aimed to describe the procedures and stages of translation and adaptation of the verbal and nonverbal subtests that make up the Woodcock-Johnson III Cognitive Abilities Battery - Extended Version (WJ-III Extended). Adaptation studies of the WJ-III Extended Battery and future validation studies will further widen the range of intellectual ability assessment tools and help professional to elaborate a more detailed and precise clinical diagnosis.
