Abstract

The objective of the research is analyze and approaches the use of Mathematic investigative classes. Based on the specific literature of Math’s education the research approach the benefits to introduce the practice of investigation in the process of teaching and learning. The importance of the teacher as a mediator and stimulator is emphasized in the promotion of an investigative learning. The investigative classes characteristics are named when it involves in all of the moments the teacher and students to participate in the process. Some activities from textbooks to the basic education were extracted to be analyzed if they show the teaching and learning characteristics but some of them are considered just as conventional problems, exercises and contextualized tasks. In the process of analysis some teacher suggestions were inserted in activities that in the beginning did not present the investigative characteristics. The learn practice that was studied propose to the student that became a mathematician, the student has the freedom of think, explore, and change knowledge with teacher and colleagues, instead of learn methods that contribute to the teacher to think that Math is only based on rules and algorithms. The Mathematics investigation contributed to the student to be an active member in the process of learning.
